National Highways
M20 (JUNCTIONS 10a -11) MOTORWAY TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M20 Motorway in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to authorise: -
1) the phased weekend closure of both carriageways of the M20 between Junction 1 0a (A2070) and Junction 11 (A20); and all the roads leading to and from the above carriageways; and
2) the 24-hour imposition, subject to requirements, of a 50mph speed limit on the coast-bound carriageway of the M20 between a point approximately 760 metres east of the centreline of Harringe Lane overbridge and a point approximately 220 metres east of the centreline of Ashford Road underbridge.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works -joint replacement, waterproofing, resurfacing and associated works. It is expected that the work would occur over 2 successive weekends starting on or after Friday 7th October 2022. The weekend closures would take place between Friday 2100 and Monday 0500 hours, one direction per weekend starting with Londonbound. There is a contingency for further closures if necessary.
The Order would come into force on 5th October 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A20, A261, A259, and A2070 in either direction. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closure in force. The temporary closures, speed restrictions, and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
