ENVIRONMENT AGENCY

ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE
AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment
Land Drainage Improvement Works (Amended) Regulations 1999
SI 1999/1783

North Ings Riverside Scour Repair

The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the River

Dearne in Mexborough approximately 200m upstream of Pastures Road (NGR SE4967000878). The proposed improvement works will involve the following: the repair and strengthening of a 14m section of riverbank opposite the Pastures Road Pumping Station outfall. Rock armour will be installed along the riverbank to protect it from further erosion and maintain the integrity of the flood defence.

The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. This determination has considered environmental sensitivity of geographical areas likely to be affected by improvement works, the scale of the works, the availability of appropriate avoidance and mitigation measures (that are both routine and standard in nature) which will be incorporated into the works through the production of an Environmental Action Plan. Due to their limited size and scale, the works are considered to present a low environmental risk. Further information, including copies of the Environmental Action Plan can be obtained from the Environment Agency office.

Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
