What is happening?
ENVIRONMENT AGENCY
ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTENTION NOT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Land Drainage Improvement Works (Amended) Regulations 1999 SI 1999/1783)
Shipton Road
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on Blue Beck in York between the A19 (Shipton Road) and Shipton Road at (NGR SE581354363) and south-west of A19 (Shipton Road) at NGR SE 58128 54153. The proposed improvement works will involve the following: Removal of the existing debris screens and provision of improved access and fencing.
The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. The works themselves are deemed low risk due to the size and scale. Regarding the environmental sensitivity of the areas affected, it is deemed that the locations of this improvement work sit outside of any ecologically sensitive areas or designated sites. An ecological constraint note was undertaken for this site to identify and develop mitigation for any species present in the area. All mitigation has been incorporated into an Environmental Action Plan which captures actions required to manage environmental risks. More information can be obtained from the Environment Agency Office, Quarry House, Leeds, LS2 7UE.
Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
Daniel Price, Quarry House LS2 7UE
