ENVIRONMENT AGENCY
Announcement Of Intention Not To Prepare An Environmental Statement - (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Land Drainage Improvement Works (Amended) Regulations 1999 SI 1999/1783)

Churchgate Debris Screen Replacement
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to a debris screen located on the College Brook at College Road, Churchgate, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, EN8 9NQ, (TL 35212 02197).

The proposed works are small scale with no significant vegetation removal. They include the replacement of the existing inlet screen with a new debris screen compliant with the latest technical guidance; installation of new working platforms to allow access for clearing and maintenance of the screens; public safety improvement by installing fencing around the site.

The Environment Agency considers that the proposed works have no significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an Environmental Statement.

The characteristics, location and potential impacts are outlined as the selection criteria in determining whether improvement works will have a significant impact on the environment according to Schedule 2 of The Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999. These have been taken into account when making the present determination.

An Environmental Action Plan, informed by an Environmental Assessment Matrix, has been prepared to account for any risk of environmental harm or disturbance during the works. The plan addresses potential impacts on protected species, flood risk, water quality and residents, with measures implemented before, during and after construction, as appropriate. These measures include strict pollution prevention controls, biosecurity procedures to prevent the spread of invasive non-native species.

With these measures in place, the proposed works are not expected to have a significant effect on the environment. The relevant environmental documents can be obtained from the project manager at the address below. Further information relating to the proposed works is available from the Environment Agency at the address below.

Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed works should do so in writing to the address specified below within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.

Vinicius Delboni Project Manager Environment Agency,
Kings Meadow House, Kings Meadow Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 8DQ
