Sustainable Water Services Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Black Ditch, Hollesley, Suffolk, between National Grid References TM 36374 43658 and TM 36764 43890.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
• 324 cubic metres an hour
• 7,776 cubic metres a day
• 1,000,000 cubic metres a year.
The water will be used for spray irrigation storage.
Further details are: water will be abstracted all year from Black Ditch and transferred to off-stream reservoirs for storage prior to use for spray irrigation on agricultural land associated with four farms.
