Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of regulation 14 of the Explosives Regulations 2014 (ER2014), Event Horizon Pyrotechnics Ltd has made a request to Somerset Local Authority for their assent to vary the licence currently held for the manufacture and storage of explosives at Canal Drove, Cheddar, Somerset, BS27 3EH. This site has been storing explosives for over 20 years, originally under a Police license and for the past 10 years under an HSE Storage and manufacturing license.
This amended license will see the overall reduction in the total quantity stored on site but increase the manufacturing capability.
A copy of the application and the draft licence is available to view at The Heart of The South West Trading Standards Service, West Buckland Road, Chelston, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9HP. Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm There is plenty of free parking within the grounds. Anyone who wishes to make representations on matters affecting the health and safety of persons other than the applicant's employees that may arise out of the variation of the licence must do so by 28th October 2026, representations should be sent to: Marlon Lockhart, Trading Standards Service, Taw View, North Walk, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1EE; e-mail: marlon.lockhart@devon.gov.uk.
