NOTICE OF PROPOSED INCREASE TO TAXI FARES
Notice is hereby given that Derbyshire Dales District Council in exercise of its power under Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 has undertaken to vary the table of fares for hackney carriages as specified below. 

Current Table of Maximum Fare
Tariff 1: When carrying four passengers or less for journeys starting between 7am & 11pm from Monday to Saturday our licensed taxis can charge up to £4.00 for the first mile; up to £2.40 per additional mile and £18.00 per hour waiting time.

Tariff 2: When carrying five or more passengers for journeys starting between 7am and 11pm and when carrying 4 or fewer passengers for journeys after 11pm and 7.00am on Monday to Saturdays and all day Sunday and Bank Holidays, our licensed taxis can charge up to £5.00 for the first mile; up to £3.00 per additional mile and £25.00 per hour waiting time.

Tariff 3: When carrying five or more passengers for journeys starting between 11pm and 7am, Mondays to Saturdays and all day Sunday and Bank Holidays, our licensed taxis can charge up to £6.75 for the first mile; £4 per additional mile and £35.00 per hour waiting time.

Proposed Maximum Fare
There is a proposal currently being considered to increase the Maximum tariff of Taxi Fares for Tariff 1 and Tariff 2 Derbyshire Dales, as follows (no increase is proposed for Tariff 3):

T1 Flag £5.00 for 1 mile then
£2.50 per mile
£18.00 hour waiting time
Fare over 2 miles = £7.50
Increase to the current fare
would be an extra £1.10 at
2 miles then an extra 10p per mile
T2 Flag £6.00 for 1 mile then
£3.10 per mile
£25.00 hour waiting time
Fare over 2 miles = £9.10
Increase to the current fare
would be an extra £1.10p at
2 miles then an extra 10p per mile
T3 Flag £6.75 for 1 mile
then £4.00 per mile
£35.00 hour waiting time
Fare over 2 miles = £10.75


A copy of this notice will be available for inspection free of charge during normal office hours, at Derbyshire Dales District Council, Town Hall, Bank Road, Matlock, Derbyshire DE3 4NN until Thursday 15th October 2026. Any objections to the proposed variation may be made in writing to the Licensing Manager, at licensing@derbyshiredales.gov.uk on or before the 15th October 2026.

If no objections are received by 15th October 2026 or if all objections received are withdrawn, the proposed variation to the table of fares shall, subject to approval, come into operation on Friday 16th October 2026 or on the date of withdrawal of the objection, or if more than one, of the last objection, whichever date is later.

If any objections are received in response to this notice on or before 15th October 2026 and are not withdrawn, then on a date not later than 2 months from 15th October 2026, the variation shall come into force with or without modification as decided by Derbyshire Dales District Council after consideration of the said objections.
