What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL
PROPOSED CHANGES TO HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
In accordance with Sections 65(1) and (2)(a) Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, the following table of maximum fares is proposed for hackney carriages:
Tariff 1 Monday to Friday 06.00 to 20.00
1 person £2.90 start for first 152 yards and every subsequent 152 yards 20p.
Tariff 2 Monday to Friday 20.00 to 00.00
Tariff 2 Saturday and Sunday and Bank Holidays
£2.90 for first 115 yards and every subsequent 115 yards 20p.
Tariff 3 Daily from 00.00 to 06.00
£3.90 for first 115 yards and every subsequent 115 yards 20p.
Tariff 4 Xmas and New Year
£5.90 for first 115 yards and every subsequent 115 yards 20p.
Christmas and New Year
24 December T2 06.00 until 18.00; T3 18.00 until 22.00; T4 22.00 until 06.00 25 December
25 December T4 06.00 until 06.00 26 December
26 December T4 06.00 until 06.00 27 December
27 December T2 06.00 until 00.00, T3 00.00 until 06.00
28 December 28 December T2 06.00 until 00.00, T3 00.00 until 06.00
29 December 29 December T2 06.00 until 00.00, T3 00.00 until 06.00 30 December

Cycles – 90 p

Tariff 1 – 20p for each period of 30 seconds. The meter adds this automatically.
Tariff 2, 3 & 4 – 20p for each period of 30 seconds. The meter adds this automatically
Cleaning charges – if passengers soil the vehicle the driver may add £50 to the fare
Any objections to the proposals must be submitted in writing to the Blackpool Council, Licensing Service, PO Box 4, Municipal Buildings Blackpool FY1 1NA within 14 days of the date of publication of this notice. If no objections are received, this table of maximum fares will come into operation on 9 October 2026
