NOTICE OF MAKING OF MODIFICATION ORDERS

Wantage Restricted Byway No. 47

Modification Order 2026

The above Order made on the 14 September 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by:-

adding to them the restricted byway from Court Hill Road at the Letcombe Regis Parish boundary at OS Grid Reference SU 3916 8533 running east-south-eastwards for 496m to Manor Road (A338) opposite BOAT 5 at SU 3966 8528.

Wantage Byway Open to All Traffic No. 5 & Lockinge Byway Open to All Traffic No. 17 Modification Order 2026

The above Order made on the 14 September 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Statement for the area by adding to it:

– the width of Wantage Byway Open to All Traffic No. 5 as 12.2 metres (40 feet) as shown on the Inclosure Award; and

– the width of Lockinge Byway Open to All Traffic No. 17 as 12.2 metres (40 feet) as shown on the Inclosure Award.

Any representation or objection relating to the above orders must be sent in writing to Rights of Way Legal, Oxfordshire County Council, County Hall, Oxford OX1 1ND, or rightsofwaylegal@oxfordshire.gov.uk not later than 6 November 2026 and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.

If no representations or objections are duly made to an order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Oxfordshire County Council, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the order. If the order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF MODIFICATION ORDER

Letcombe Bassett Byway Open to All Traffic No. 6, Letcombe Regis Byway Open to All Traffic No. 3 (part) & West Challow Byway Open to All Traffic Nos. 10 & 13 Modification Order 2026

On the 26 August 2026, Oxfordshire County Council confirmed without modification the above order made under section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by:-

Adding to it the width of Letcombe Bassett Byway Open to All Traffic No. 6 as 18.3 metres (60 feet) as shown on the Inclosure Award.

Adding to it the width of West Challow Byway Open to All Traffic No. 10 as 12.2 metres (40 feet) between SU 3749 8699 and SU 3760 8707 as shown in the Inclosure Award; and as that which is shown excluded from hereditaments on the 1910 Finance Act map and as shaded grey on the Order Plan between SU 3760 8707 and SU 3800 8734.

Adding to it the width of West Challow Byway Open to All Traffic No. 13 as 12.2 metres (40 feet) as shown on the Inclosure Award.

Adding to it the width of Letcombe Regis Byway Open to All Traffic No. 3 as 12.2 metres (40 feet) between SU 3749 8699 and SU 3786 8658 as shown on the Inclosure Award.

The order as confirmed became operative on the date of confirmation but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, on the ground that it is not within the powers of section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of Schedule 15 to the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 24 September 2026, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
