Leiston - Variation of Water Abstraction Licence

Notice of application to vary a full licence to abstract (take) water

Sizewell C Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number AN/035/0003/016, which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising sand and gravel deposits (Crag Formation) at Leiston, Suffolk, at National Grid Reference TM 46012 64982.

The variation applied for is to remove the water rights trade agreement between this licence and three other existing abstraction licences and to extend the expiry date of licence serial number AN/035/0003/016 to 31 March 2030.

The current licence (AN/035/0003/016) authorises the abstraction of:

• 25 cubic metres per hour

• 600 cubic metres per day

• 219,000 cubic metres per year.
