WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981, SECTION 53
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE (BASSETLAW DISTRICT) DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (MARNHAM FOOTPATH No.12) MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
On Wednesday 2nd September 2026 the Nottinghamshire County Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the above Area by adding thereto the footpath commencing from the junction with Hollowgate Lane, High Marnham at point SK 8074 7019 (point A on the Order Plan) and then proceeding with no limitations for approximately 30 metres between a boundary hedgerow to the west and a boundary fence to the east in a generally northerly direction along Sparrow Lane to a point SK 8074 7022 (point B on the Order Plan) and then proceeding with no limitations for approximately 60 metres in a generally westerly direction alongside a southern field boundary to a point SK 8068 7021 (point C on the Order Plan) at a field boundary hedgerow and then proceeding cross-field with no limitations for approximately 375 metres in a generally northwesterly direction to a point SK 8039 7045 (point D on the Order Plan) north of Hill Farm and then proceeding with no limitations for approximately 100 metres in a generally westerly direction alongside a southern field boundary to a point SK 8030 7046 (point E on the Order Plan) and then proceeding with no limitations cross-field for approximately 310 metres in a generally northwesterly direction to a point SK 8007 7066 (point F on the Order Plan) and then proceeding with no limitations for approximately 225 metres in a generally westerly direction alongside a southern field boundary to a point SK 7984 7061 (point G on the Order Plan) at the junction with Dunham Road and with a width of 7 metres between points A and B and with a width of 1.8 metres between points B and G as described in the Order and shown on the order map.
A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Plan may be seen free of charge at my Office at the address below between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive, and at Bassetlaw District Council, Retford Town Hall, 17B The Square, Retford, Notts, DN22 6DE, and also at Sutton on Trent Community Partnership Library, Methodist Church Community Hall, Sutton-on-Trent, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG23 6QA, during the respective normal opening hours until Thursday 29th October 2026. The order may be viewed on the Nottinghamshire County Council website under Rights of way news, or a copy can be obtained by e-mailing Countryside.Access@nottscc.gov.uk. Paper copies of the Order and Map may be purchased from my Office at the address below at a cost of £5 per copy.
The Order came into force on Thursday 17th September 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or any provisions contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or on the grounds of any requirement of the Act or of any regulations made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under Paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 6 weeks from the Thursday 17th September 2026 make an application to the High Court.
