Notice of application to vary a transfer licence to abstract (take) water

Canal & River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

Canal & River Trust are applying to renew their licence on different terms. The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0001/016 to abstract water from Knypersley Reservoir at National Grid Reference (NGR) SJ 89598 54906, Brown Edge, Stoke on Trent for transfer for the purpose of operations in the course of carrying out functions as a navigation authority. All water is transferred to the canal feeder channel leading into Caldon Canal at national grid reference SJ 90171 51736.

The variation applied for is to allow an additional abstraction point from Knypersley Reservoir at NGR SJ 89589 54857 and transferring abstracted water into the canal feeder channel without intervening use to a point between National Grid References SJ 89944 52557 and SJ 89992 52396.
