NOTICE OF MAKING OF A MODIFICATION ORDER

SECTION (53) WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT OF PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY OF COUNTY DURHAM

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 31, WEST RAINTON) MODIFICATION ORDER NO. 1 2026

The above order, made on 24 August 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding Public Footpath No.31 commencing from Public Footpath No.2 for approximately 945 metres in a general northerly direction through woodland, to Public Footpath No.21 as shown on the plans to the order.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Belmont Library during normal opening hours and via the Council website.

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing addressed to Sharon Renwick, Legal Assistant, PO Box 274, Stanley, County Durham, DH8 1HG or by email to Highways.orders@durham.gov.uk (ref:16957416) not later than 9 October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or any part of it, or if any so made are withdrawn, The County Council of Durham may, instead of submitting the Order or part of it to the Secretary of State, if the authority has by Notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, itself confirm the Order or part of the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in whole or in part, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
