What is happening?

London Borough of Croydon: Scheme of Members Allowances

The London Borough of Croydon hereby gives notice in accordance with regulations 16 and 22 of the Local Authorities (Members Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 (No 1021), as amended, of the Members’ Allowance Scheme 2026/27.

The Scheme provides for a Basic Allowance payable to all Members, and an annual Special Responsibility Allowance (paid in addition to the Basic Allowance) to those holding positions with special responsibilities.

Further Information

In adopting the scheme for 2026/27, agreed at the Council Meeting held on the 20th July 2026, the Council had regard to the London Councils’ Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) 2023 report on ‘The Remuneration of Councillors in London’. Members are now entitled to apply for inclusion in the Local Government Pension Scheme. Councillors may claim travel and subsistence allowances for a range of out-of-Borough approved duties specified in the relevant statutory regulations. These are articulated in the full version of the Scheme of Members Allowances.
