NOTICE OF PROPOSALS TO REVOKE A LATE NIGHT LEVY IN THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

The Late Night Levy (Expenses, Exemptions and Reductions) Regulations 2012

Newcastle upon Tyne City Council is proposing to end the requirement that holders of premises licences or club premises certificates that authorise the supply of alcohol at any time between midnight and 6am on one or more days in a year pay a late night levy.

The Licensing Committee has proposed that the levy will end on 31st October 2026.

The Council would like your views on the proposal to bring the levy to an end, in particular:

(1) Do you consider the Late Night Levy should be revoked?

The responses received will be considered and taken into account before the Council makes a final decision whether or not to revoke the levy and if the decision is to retain it, about its details. The consultation period runs from the date of this notice until 22 September 2026. There are a number of ways in which you can send us your views:-
