NOTICE is hereby given that a Public Local Inquiry and Hearing into the justification for, and objections to, the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme will be held by the appointed Reporter (Paul Cackette CBE, LL.B (Hons), Dip LP, NP) at the Venue, Eskmills, Station Road, Musselburgh EH21 7PQ starting on 6 October 2026 and continuing on 7, 8 and 9 October and subsequent dates, starting on each date at 10:00. The Scheme is promoted by East Lothian Council and is called in for determination by the Scottish Ministers under paragraph 7 of Schedule 2 to the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009. Members of the public can follow the proceedings through the broadcast to the internet as part of DPEA’s webcasting service. The webcast recordings will be available to view at: www.youtube.com/@DPEAScotGov Attendees and/or participants may wish to note that this meeting will be broadcast live to the internet as part of DPEA’s webcasting service. Generally the public seating areas will not be directly filmed however by entering the meeting venue and using the public seating area, you are consenting to being filmed and to the use and storage of those images and sound recordings and any information pertaining to you contained in them for webcasting and training purposes and for the purpose of keeping historical records and making those records available to the public. All appeal documentation is published on our website, http://www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk. On accessing the website, enter the case reference FPS-210-1 in the ‘Search by case reference:’ box to find all documents relating to this case. Please note copies of the Scheme Documentation will be available for public inspection at:
