What is happening?

National Gas Transmission has applied to the Welsh Ministers for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Gelligaer and Merthyr Common.  

The proposed works are to repair defects on the high-pressure gas pipeline from Treaddow to Dowlais. This involves excavating the buried pipeline. Heras fence will be used to fence off the area. All fencing will be temporary, each panel will have a width of 3.5m, a height of 2.0m and be held together by lockable clasps. Once the work is completed, and the land reinstated, all fencing will be fully removed. The works will cover 20 square metres, and fencing will be 80m in length. The works will be located at Mynydd-y-Capel Common.
