Land known as Coniston Fell, Dunnerdale Fell, Seathwaite Fell and Torver High Common (Lancashire)
United Utilities Water Ltd has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Coniston Common CL29. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.
The proposed works are to install two timber pedestrian bridges (one with associated concrete abutments) across two small water courses downstream of Levers Water dam.
The works will be located south of Levers Water dam at GR SD328180, 499160.
A copy of the application form and accompanying documents can be inspected at Thirlmere Estate Office, The Old Sawmill, Thirlmere, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 4TQ during normal office hours until 18th September 2026.
