Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026

On 17 July 2026 Dorset Council confirmed (without modification) the above-named order as unopposed.

The effect of the order as confirmed will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them a footpath in the Parish of Ferndown as follows:

Footpath 59, Ferndown:

From the A348 Ringwood Road, Ferndown at SZ 06509786 west along a stone surfaced track to a 5-bar metal gate at SZ 06499786, continuing along a stone surfaced track where the route narrows at SZ 06429785 and continues west along a grass surfaced track to join Footpath 50 at SZ 06409784. The width varies from 4.5 metres at SZ 06509786 to SZ 06499786, continuing at 4.5 metres where it narrows to 2.5 metres at SZ 06429785 and continuing at this width to SZ 06409784 where the route meets Footpath 50.

A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed, and may be seen free of charge, at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders

The order came into effect on 17 July 2026. If any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, you may within six weeks from 20 August 2026, make an application to the High Court.

Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026

The above Order, made on 07 August 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them:

Footpath 60, Ferndown:

From the tarmac road between properties 41 and 43 Forest View Drive, Ferndown at SU 0625 0054, continuing south east along a gravel and stone surfaced track to SU 0640 0047, continuing east to SU 0645 0047 to meet a wide gravel and stone surfaced track, continuing east north east to point SU 0659 0052, where the route joins a brick surfaced track and turns immediately south south east along the brick lined track to SU 0661 0049, then east north east along a narrow sand and soil surfaced path to meet Bridleway 18, Ferndown at SU 0670 0055. The width varies from 1.2 metres at SU 0625 0054 immediately widening to 3.3 metres continuing at this width to SU 0659 0052 where the route meets a brick surfaced track and narrows to 2.7 metres continuing at this width to SU 0661 0049 and narrowing to 2 metres to meet Bridleway 18, Ferndown at SU 0670 0055.

Footpath 61, Ferndown:

From Forest View Drive at SU 0622 0043 east across an open grass area, adjacent to property number 55a, entering Ferndown Common at SU 0625 0043 and continuing east, north east to SU 0640 0047. The width varies from 2 metres on open ground at SU 0622 0043, narrowing to 1.2 metres at SU 0625 0043, then immediately widening to 2 metres and continuing at this width to meet SU 0640 0047.

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to Sue Phillips, Definitive Map Technical Officer, Definitive Map Team, Spatial Planning, Dorset Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ (Ref: RW/T522), or via email to susan.phillips@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk not later than 01 October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Any letters received will be made available for public inspection.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Dorset Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
