What is happening?

NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK LOCAL PLAN REVIEWNOTICE OF CONSULTATION – REGULATION 19 PLANNING AND COMPLUSORY PURCHASE ACT 2004TOWN AND COUNTY PLANNING (LOCAL PLANNING) (ENGLAND) REGULATIONS 2012 – AS AMENDED

The New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) has published a draft Local Plan under Regulation 19 of the above regulations for inspection and consultation from 17 August 2026 to 5pm on 30 September 2026.

The draft Local Plan published for Regulation 19 sets out a series of draft planning policies which will be used to guide the type and location of new development within the National Park to help deliver the statutory Park purposes. The review of the Local Plan is necessary to ensure that the National Park is covered by an up-to-date local policy framework that complies with national policy.

The draft Local Plan and other supporting information – including the Sustainability Appraisal and Habitat Regulations Assessment – is available for inspection at our office at Lymington Town Hall, Avenue Road, Lymington, SO41 9ZG, from 9am-12.30pm, then 1.30pm until 4pm on Monday to Friday; and online via the consultation portal ‘Commonplace’ nfnpalocalplan.commonplace.is/As part of the consultation, we are holding a series of public drop-in events.

All sessions will be open from 2pm until 7pm:

•Wednesday 2 September: Landford Village Hall, Lyndhurst Road, Landford

•Friday 4 September: Bartley Village Hall, Bourne Road, Woodlands

•Monday 7 September: The Copythorne & District Royal British Regional Hall, Southampton Road, Cadnam

•Tuesday 8 September: Jubilee Field, Station Road, Sway

•Friday 11 September: Lyndhurst Community Centre, Main Car Park, Lyndhurst

•Wednesday 16 September: Redlynch Village Hall, Vicarage Road, Redlynch

An online drop-in event will be hosted by the NPA on 10 September, 4pm – 5.30pm.
