What is happening?
THE EAST ANGLIA ONE NORTH LIMITED (FORESHORE) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2026 COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF NEW RIGHTS
1. Notice is hereby given that East Anglia ONE North Limited has made the order under section 10 of the Electricity Act 1989 (the "Act") and paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 to the Act. It is about to submit the order to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero for confirmation, and if confirmed, the order will authorise East Anglia ONE North Limited to purchase compulsorily the new rights described below for the purpose of delivering the construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of the cables at landfall to facilitate the connection to and operation of the East Anglia ONE North Offshore Wind Farm generating station.
2. A copy of the order and of the accompanying map may be seen at all reasonable hours at:
- East Suffolk Council, Woodbridge Library, New St, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 1DT
- Leiston Town Council, Main St. Leiston IP16 4ER
3. A copy of the order which gives details on the extent, description and situation of the land included in the order and of the accompanying map may be viewed online at https://www.scottishpowerrenewables.com/offshore/east-anqlia/east-anqlia-one-north/eastanglia-one-north-document-library
4. Any objection to the order must be made in writing compulsorypurchaseorders@energysecurity.gov.uk before 31 August 2026 to and should state the title of the order, the grounds of objection and the objectors address and interests in the land.
DESCRIPTION OF NEW RIGHTS
New permanent rights for East Anglia ONE North Limited and its successors in title and their respective tenants, licensees and assignees and those authorised by any of them to: a) install, maintain, repair and remove the cables, cable protection and cable ducts by way of directional drilling or other similar trenchless technique; b) retain and use the cables, cable protection and cable ducts for the purposes of the transmission of electricity and telecommunications; and c) to benefit from continuous vertical and lateral support for the cables, cable protection and ducts in order to protect the integrity of the cables, cable protection and cable ducts over a strip of land at Thorpeness Beach, approximately 600m from the northern extent of Thorpeness village, bounded by mean high water and mean low water of the sea from time to time.
