Public Path Diversion Order 2026
On 19 June 2026 Dorset Council confirmed the above-named order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 as unopposed and the Council has certified that work has been carried out to bring the site of the new highway mentioned in article 3 of the order into a fit condition for use by the public.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert part of Footpath 80, Bridport as shown on the order map as follows:
From the existing path:
The full width of the path from the unaffected part of Footpath 80 at SY 4797 9389 generally south west to SY 4795 9387 and continuing south west to meet the unaffected part of Footpath 80 at SY 4786 9378.

To the new path:
From the unaffected part of Footpath 80 at SY 4797 9389 generally west to approximately 32 metres to SY 4794 9388 then generally south west for approximately 82 metres to SY 4788 9382 continuing generally south west for approximately 31 metres to SY 4786 9381 and then generally south for approximately 25 metres to the unaffected part of Footpath 80 at SY 4786 9378. Width 2.0 metres between SY 4797 9389 and SY 4786 9378 except at SY 4788 9382 width 1.2 metres.
A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders.
The order comes into force on 26 June 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question the validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 16 July 2026, make an application to the High Court.

On 19 June 2026 Dorset Council confirmed the above-named order made under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980 as unopposed.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to extinguish Footpath 91 (part) and Footpath 96 as shown on the order map as follows:

From SY 4794 9388 south, south east to SY 4795 9387.
