What is happening?
Notice of EIA Screening Decision – Watercourse Improvement Works
Further to the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 (as amended), Norfolk Rivers Internal Drainage Board gives notice that it proposes to carry out watercourse improvement works along the River Nar just downstream of Castle Acre which flows through Priory & Horse Meadows (Castle Acre Parish Council).
The works will consist of watercourse restoration to improve ecological function and maintain effective drainage, taking place over an approximate length of 1km of the River Nar flowing through Priory & Horse Meadows, just downstream of Castle Acre. This section will connect into a previously restored reach from Castle Acre Common, through to West Acre.
The Board considers that the improvement works are not likely to have any significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an Environmental Statement in respect of them. The works will improve the overall hydrology and ecology of the site improving the watercourse and surrounding habitats, while maintaining flood risk management.
Copies of the screening decision and supporting documentation are available for inspection at the address specified below. Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed works should do so in writing to the address specified below within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
