Notice Of Application For Works To Be Carried Out On Land At Millfields Park Common And Hackney Marshes
National Grid has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Millfields Park Common (CL22) and Hackney Marshes (CL17). The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State.
This notice replaces the notice published on 2nd April 2026.
The proposed works are:
The temporary use of a defined area within the common land to support the upgrading of the overhead line between Overhead Line Tower (OHL) VC 017 and VC 018 as part of the North London Reinforcement (LCR) Project.
The existing OHL upgrades include:
i) Replacement of 400kV overhead line from VC017 to VC018 (350m).
ii) Temporary fencing installed around the existing pylon VC017 (460m).
iii) Temporary fencing installed adjacent to pylon VC018 (110m).
iv) Temporary track matting placed within Hackney Marshes at location VC017 amounting to 815m2.
v) Temporary track matting placed within the Millfields Park Common adjacent to VC018 amounting to 1250m2.
For a period of 3-5 months.
