What is happening?

ENVIRONMENT AGENCY
Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Water Act 2003) notice of application to vary a transfer licence to abstract (take) water New Milton Sand and Ballast Limited (formerly H.H. & D.E Drew Limited)
has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006. The application is to vary licence serial number SW/043/0037/007 to abstract water from the sands and gravels aquifer at the abstraction area within National Grid References SZ 11258 97357, SZ 11815 97258, SZ 11644 96916 and SZ 11184 97068 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to National Grid Reference SZ 11270 97095.

The variation applied for is to increase the abstraction volumes and rates to the following:

  • 79.2 cubic metres an hour ? 1,901 cubic metres a day
  • 693,792 cubic metres a year.
