Victoria Hall, Main Street Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, LA11 6DP

On 30 June 2026 at 10.00am

To hold a public local inquiry into the Order

The effect of the Order, without modifications, will be to make an order to: Extinguish the whole width and length of unrecorded footpath situated at Bailey Lane in the parish of Grange-over-Sands from grid reference 340800 477786 (point A) southwards for about 9 metres, at a maximum width of 5 metres, to grid reference 340803 477778 (point B).

Any person wishing to view the statements of case and other documents relating to this Order may do so by appointment at Grange-over-Sands Library, Grange Fell Road, Grange-over-Sands, LA11 6BQ Monday to Friday: 10am to 5pm and Saturday: 10am to 1pm.

Extinguishment Order 2025

This Order is made by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs ("the Secretary of State") under sections 118A and 120(3A) of the Highways Act 1980.

The footpath described in paragraph 1 of this Order crosses a railway otherwise than by a tunnel or bridge.

It appears to the Secretary of State that it is expedient in the interests of the safety of members of the public using, or likely to use, the said unrecorded footpath that it should be stopped up.

THIS ORDER EXTINGUISHES the public right of way over the land situate at Bailey Lane Level Crossing in the Parish of Grange-over-Sands in the County of Westmorland and Furness shown by a continuous bold line on the map attached to this order and described in the schedule after X days from the date of confirmation of this Order. DESCRIPTION OF UNRECORDED FOOTPATH TO BE EXTINGUISHED

The whole width and length of unrecorded footpath situated at Bailey Lane in the parish of Grange-over-Sands from grid reference 340800 477786 (point A) southwards for about 9 metres, at a maximum width of 5 metres, to grid reference 340803 477778 (point B).
