Whitchurch River Restoration Project
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the River Test in Whitchurch between u/s NGR SU 47630 47842 and d/s SU4726547665, a distance of 0.45 kilometres. The proposed improvement works will involve the following: River restoration: weir removal, bed raising, channel narrowing/reprofiling and creation of offtake to the woodland carrier.
The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. The works are small in scale under 1 hectare, and are not expected to cause significant environmental risks. They will have overall positive environmental effects through river restoration and habitat improvement. Any minor construction impacts will be minimised using standard best practices and controlled through an Environmental Action Plan.
