Notice of application for a full licence

to abstract (take) water

G A Robson & Sons Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Wiske between National Grid References SE 37426 84245 and SE 37574 84367 at Kirby Wiske, Thirsk, Yorkshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

• 10 cubic metres an hour

• 155 cubic metres a day

• 19,000 cubic metres a year

• between 01 May and 31 August inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation of potato crops on 12 hectares of land. The proposed abstraction lies within the Swale, Ure, Nidd & Upper Ouse Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area.
