NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER

SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(HOCKWOLD-CUM-WILTON)

MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

The above Order, made on 6 May 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by upgrading and varying thereto:-

In the parish of Hockwold-cum-Wilton

Bridleway to be upgraded to a Restricted Byway and its particulars modified;

Restricted Byway No. 6B (Church Lane to Bridleway No. 6A).

Starts from the southern end of Church Lane at grid reference TL 7342 8774 and runs southwards for approximately 72.4 metres to meet Hockwold-cum-Wilton Bridleway No. 6A at grid reference TL 7342 8767. The width of the route extends between historic boundary features and varies between 16 and 44.5 metres as indicated on the 1:2500 Ordnance Survey County Series second edition map. The route has a junction with Hockwold-cum-Wilton Byway Open to All Traffic No. 4 at grid reference TL 7346 8770.

Limitations and conditions: none.

Bridleway to have its particulars modified;

Bridleway No. 6A (Restricted Byway no. 6B to Bridleway No. 3)

Starts from the southern end of Hockwold-cum-Wilton Restricted Byway No. 6B at grid reference TL 7342 8767 and runs southwards for approximately 157.1 metres to its junction with Moor Drove (Byway No. 7) at grid reference TL 7345 8752. The width of this section of the route extends between historic boundary features and varies between 11.7 and 44.3 metres as indicated on the 1:2500 Ordnance Survey County Series second edition map. The route then continues for approximately 220 metres south of its junction with Moor Drove (Byway No. 7) at a bridle gate, south south-eastwards, on the west side of the field boundary to join Bridleway No. 3 at the northern bank of the Little Ouse river, at a bridle gate.

Limitations and conditions: Bridle gates (1) approximately 220 metres south of the junction with Moor Drove; (2) at the junction with Bridleway No. 3.

A copy of the order and order map may be seen free of charge at County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich and at the offices of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, King’s Court, Chapel Street, King’s Lynn, PE30 1EX during normal office hours or purchased at a cost of £5.00 from the undersigned.

Any representation or objection relating to the order must be sent in writing to the Legal Orders Team Manager, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2SG or by email to legalordersandreisters@norfolk.gov.uk not later than 13 July 2026, and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made to the order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Norfolk County Council, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the Order.

If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
