Nottinghamshire County Council
Expressions of Interest invited for community use of land
at Averham, Staythorpe Road, Nottinghamshire, NG23 5QZ

The vacant 1.2-acre former Manners Sutton site, which closed as a school in 2021, is proposed to be split to maximise public benefit, with around half of the site intended to be brought to the market by the County Council for residential development and the remainder to be made available for community use.

Expressions of interest are invited for the community element of this development from existing community groups. As set out in a report to the Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Asset Management dated 15 December 2025 it is proposed the land will be transferred by way of the Councils adopted Community Asset Transfer Policy.

To be eligible to register interest groups must be:
• A Community led organisation
• A Voluntary and Community sector organisation
• Be appropriately constituted eg registered charity, community interest company, charitable trust, a not-for-profit company.

Following expressions of interest, parties meeting the criteria for the council’s community asset transfer policy may be invited to submit full business cases

(see PDF for Proposed Area Demarcation Drawing)

Expressions of interest to: propertyservices@nottscc.gov.uk
Closing Date: 14th June 2026

NCCs decision will be subject to contract and all relevant committee and statutory approvals.
