HAVE YOUR SAY:
Renewal of Public Space Protection Orders

Residents in King’s Lynn, Hunstanton and Downham Market are invited to take part in a public consultation on the renewal of three Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) aimed at tackling alcohol anti behaviour.

These PSPOs are due to expire at the start of October. Before they can be renewed, the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk must consult with local people and key stakeholders to understand whether the orders remain necessary and effective.

PSPOs do not ban drinking in public.
They give Police and authorised council offi cers to require individuals to stop drinking or hand over alcohol only when behaviour is causing, or is likely to cause, disorder.

The current orders cover most of King’s Lynn and Hunstanton, and the whole of Downham Market.
If renewed, the PSPOs would take effect from 1 October 2026 and remain in place for a further three years.

Consultation runs until 15 June 2026.
