NOTICE OF INTENDED DISPOSAL OF PUBLIC OPEN SPACE LAND BY WAY OF A DEED OF EASEMENT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the provisions of section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 that Oxford City Council intends to make a disposal of an interest in land consisting or forming part of a public open space.

1. The Land Affected: The land subject to this notice comprises an area of approximately 1560 square metres located at King George’s Playing Field, off Botley Road, Oxford and Oatlands Road Recreation Ground, off Ferry Hinksey Road, Oxford (the “Open Space Land”).

2. Nature of the Intended Disposal: the disposal will be effected by the grant of a permanent Deed of Easement to SOUTHERN ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION PLC (Company Number: 04094290, whose registered office is at No. 1 Forbury Place, 43 Forbury Road, Reading, RG1 3JH) and its group companies.

The Deed of Easement will grant rights to lay, install, construct, inspect, maintain, repair, protect, use, replace, or renew an underground electricity cable and ancillary electrical apparatus within a designated easement strip on, under, or over the Open Space Land. The easement strip measures 3 metres by 520 metres.

The Plan showing the location of the Open Space Land, with the proposed easement route shown in green may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours 9:00 to 17:00 at Oxford City Council, Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX.

Any objections or representations concerning the intended disposals must be made in writing and addressed to the “Director of Law, Governance & Strategy”, at Oxford City Council, Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX no later than by close of business 5pm on 19th June 2026.
