THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH (A386 TAVISTOCK ROAD) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2026 COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF LAND AT TAVISTOCK ROAD, PLYMOUTH
What is happening?
Notice is hereby given to all those that the Council of the City of Plymouth has made the City of Plymouth (A386 Tavistock Road) Compulsory Purchase Order 2026 under sections 239 240 246 250 and 260 of the Highways Act 1980.
The Council of the City of Plymouth is about to submit this order to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation, and if confirmed, the order will authorise the Council of the City of Plymouth to purchase compulsorily the land described below for the purpose of:
i. The improvement of the highway known as Tavistock Road (A386) situated between Woolwell Roundabout and the George junction at Roborough in the City of Plymouth in the County of Devon;
ii. the construction of highways, the improvement of existing highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in the vicinity of the routes of the above mentioned highways in pursuance of The City of Plymouth (A386 Tavistock Road) (Side Roads) Order 2026;
iii. the use by the acquiring authority of land acquired in connection with the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises as aforesaid;
iv. the improvement and/or development of frontages to the above mentioned highways or of the land adjoining or adjacent thereto; and
v. mitigating the adverse effect which the existence or use of the highways proposed to be improved will have on the surroundings thereof.
2. A copy of the order and of the accompanying map may be seen between the hours of 06:30 and 15:00 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) within the George Junction Park and Ride terminal building located at Tavistock Road, Plymouth PL6 7HB.
3. A copy of the order and of the accompanying map may be viewed online at https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/compulsory purchase-orders.
4. Any objection to the order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle upon Tyne NE99 5FQ or by email to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk before 30 June 2026 and should state the title of the order, the grounds of objection and the objector's address and interests in the land.
5. In submitting an objection it should be noted that your personal data and correspondence will be passed to the Council to enable your objection to be considered. If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection and the Secretary of State will copy your representations, with your name and address removed to the Council, and if there is to be a Public Local Inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result.

422, 424, 438, 442 to 448 (evens only) & 452 Tavistock Road;
Land forming part of 440 Tavistock Road and land adjacent thereto;
436 Tavistock Road and land adjacent thereto;
Land forming parts of 432 and 451 Tavistock Road;
Land on the west side of Tavistock Road, land on the north west side of Tavistock Road in the vicinity of numbers 419, 421 and 425 Tavistock Road, and land to the east of 423 Tavistock Road;
1 The Court and land adjacent thereto and land forming part of 5 The Court;
60 Olympic Way; and
Land at 7, 8 and 11 Little Fancy Close.
