Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, that the Cheshire East Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following: 

That length of Public Footpath No. 3 Prestbury which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 9160 7687 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 16m. to Footpath No. 5 Bollington at (OSGR) SJ 9161 7688, then in a generally northeast then north direction for approx. 336m. to (OSGR) SJ 9177 7710.

The closure is necessary to protect the public from the risk of injury arising from an unsafe bridge crossing.

The Order continues the restriction that came into force on 30th April 2026 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding 6 months, or until the works required on or adjacent to the footpath are completed

Modification Order 2023
The above Order, made on the 23rd of May 2024 is about to be submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation, or to be confirmed as an unopposed Order by Cheshire East Borough Council. The effect of the Order, if confirmed without modification, will be to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding Public Bridleways:

Bridleway No.59 Bollington – Commencing at OS grid reference: SJ 9320 7707, Greenfield Road and proceeds in a south westerly direction to OS grid reference SJ 9306 7699.

Bridleway No.61 Bollington – Commencing at OS grid reference: SJ 9343 7683, junction with Bridleway No.60 Bollington. Proceeds in south easterly direction to OS grid reference: SJ 9353 7687, junction with Oak Lane, Bollington.

Bollington No.60 Bollington – Commencing at OS grid reference: JS 9306 7699 junction with Bridleway No.59 Bollington and then proceeds OS grid reference: SJ 9343 7683, junction with Bridleway No.60 Bollington.

A copy of the Order and Map has been deposited and may be seen free of charge during normal office hours in the Rights of Way Unit at the office of the undersigned, and at the offices of Cheshire East Borough Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach CW11 1HZ. Copies of the Order and the Map may be obtained free of charge from the offices of the undersigned. 

Any representations or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the undersigned, Public Rights of Way Unit, Municipal Buildings, c/o Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, CW1 2LL or by email prow@cheshireeast.gov.uk no later than the 2nd July 2026. 

Please state the grounds on which they are made. If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Cheshire East Borough Council may, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, confirm the Order itself. 

If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State, any representations and objections that have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
