Notice of application for a transfer licence to abstract (take) water

Volkerstevin Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from alluvium from points at Ambleside Wastewater Treatment Works in the area bounded by National Grid References NY 37133 04260, NY 37134 04179, NY 37170 04164 & NY 37171 04261. The water will be transferred to the River Rothay at National Grid Reference NY 37111 04212, without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows: • 97.6 cubic metres an hour • 2,343 cubic metres a day • 68,970 cubic metres a year.

Abstraction will take place over a 12-month period, for the purpose of construction dewatering. All water abstracted will be returned to the River Rothay.
