NOTICE OF INTENDED DISPOSAL OF OPEN SPACE LAND
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the provisions of section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 the Vale of White Horse District Council intends to dispose of land which is currently held as Open Space.
The land intended for disposal is described as Land on the north-east side of Kennington Road, Kennington, Oxford, near OX1 5NZ (commonly known as Kennington Ponds) and extending to some 1.620ha (4.004 acres). It is intended that the council grant an option to transfer its freehold interest in the property to the Environment Agency for inclusion in the proposed Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme.
A plan that identifies the precise location of the open space land intended for disposal is available to view at the council’s offices at Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon, OX14 3JE or can be requested by emailing property@southandvale.gov.uk and quoting: “Request for Plan - Kennington Ponds Disposal”.
Objections to the proposed disposal must be made in writing, clearly marked “Kennington Ponds Disposal” and addressed to the Strategic Property Team, Vale of White Horse District Council, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon, OX14 3JE or by email to property@southandvale.gov.uk no later than 29 May 2026.
