Notice of application for a full licence

to abstract (take) water

Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from limestone, siltstone and mudstone at Woolavington between National Grid References ST 34130 42395, ST 34302 42342, ST 34272 42016 and ST 34083 42032.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

• 150 cubic metres an hour

• 1,500 cubic metres a day

• 547,500 cubic metres a year.

Some of the water will be used for dust suppression. The remainder will be transferred without intervening use to an on-site rhine which leads to the Huntspill River, for the purpose of dewatering to allow construction of electricity substation buildings.

Abstraction will take place until 31 August 2029.

The associated discharge permit application number is EPR/ BP3723MV/A001.
