LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1972, Schedule 14 and PUBLIC HEALTH ACT 1925, section 76
ADOPTION OF SECTION 76

Notice is hereby given that Sevenoaks District Council intends to pass a resolution to adopt Section 76 of the Public Health Act 1925, in accordance with its powers under Schedule 14 of the Local Government Act 1972.

Adoption of Section 76 allows for provisions and byelaws of the local authority with respect to hackney carriages to apply in all respects to hackney carriages standing or plying for hire at any railway station or railway premises within such area, as if such railway station or railway premises were a stand for hackney carriages or a street.

This notice has no effect on the position of hackney carriage stands appointed by the Council.

It is intended that the adoption take effect from 14 August 2026.

Any person wishing to make representation about the proposal should make them in writing on or before 3 June 2026.

All representations will be taken into consideration by the Council.
