proposal to Permanently Close FOUNTAINHALL PRIMARY SCHOOL AND ELC

(currently TEMPORARILY CLOSED)

Under the Schools Consultation (Scotland) Act 2010 (As Amended) Scottish Borders Council agreed that they will be proceeding to launch a Statutory Consultation on the proposal to close Fountainhall Primary School and ELC (currently temporarily closed) and to rezone the school catchment area to Heriot Primary School.

The Statutory Consultation is scheduled to open on Monday 24th August 2026 and run until 12th October 2026 Inclusive. Feedback is welcomed and encouraged by all.

There will be a public meeting within the Statutory Consultation period which will be open for all to attend and is a chance to hear more about the proposals and to have views recorded for the purposes of the Statutory Consultation. A draft Proposal Paper for the Statutory Closure Consultation will be brought back to Council, for approval prior to publication of, and the commencement of, the Statutory Consultation. The date, place and time for the Public Meeting will also be announced and published then.

Paper Copies of the Proposal Report once agreed and published online within the Statutory Consultation will be available on request at: Fountainhall Primary School and ELC Closure and catchment rezone Consultation, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells,TD6 0SA or by contacting the school estates email address: schoolestates@scotborders.gov.uk

All written responses to the Statutory Consultation received during the Statutory Consultation will also be included in the consultation or emails to the school estate mailbox although digital participation on the online citizen space link is actively encouraged.

The Consultation will open on Monday 24th August and run until 12th October Inclusive to have your say on the Proposals. The link to the Statutory Consultation online link will be published prior to the Statutory Consultation commencement.
