What is happening?
London Borough of Lambeth 2026-27 Budget and Council Tax
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the Council’s decisions (4th March 2026) on setting a Council Tax for the year 2026-27. The Council resolved, in accordance with Section 30 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (the Act), to set the following amounts of Council Tax for the year 2026-27 for
each of the categories of dwellings shown below:
Band A £1,364.74
Band B £1,592.19
Band C £1,819.66
Band D £2,047.11
Band E £2,502.03
Band F £2,956.93
Band G £3,411.85
Band H £4,094.22
In accordance with Section 11A of the Act the Council resolved that the following discounts shall apply for the year 2026-27:
Property class C
Property description Unoccupied and unfurnished
Percentage discount 0%
Property class D
Property description Vacant and uninhabitable or undergoing structural alteration
Percentage discount 0%
In accordance with Section 11B of the Act the Council resolved that the council tax payable in respect of a Long-Term empty dwelling from 1st April 2024 shall be:
• Properties that have been empty for more than 1 year; you must pay a 100%
premium.
• Properties that have been empty for more than 5 years; you must pay a 200% premium.
• Properties that have been empty for more than 10 years; you must pay a 300% premium.
In accordance with Section 11C of the Act the Council resolved that the council tax payable in respect of furnished properties periodically occupied (referred to as “second homes”) from 1st April 2025 shall include a 100% Council Tax Premium.
