NOTICE OF DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY (UPGRADE TO BRIDLEWAY OF FOOTPATH NO.21 BURY) ORDER 2026

The above Order was made on 16th January 2026 under section 53(3)(c)(ii) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If confirmed as made the Order will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Bury by:-

Upgrading to a bridleway the whole extent of public right of way, Footpath No. 21 Bury; commencing at its junction with Mather Road, approximately 17m north of house number 62 Mather Road, thence continuing in an easterly direction for approximately 267m to the junction of Footpaths Nos 22 and 27 Bury, thence continuing in a south easterly direction for approximately 95m to its junction with Footpath No.28, Bury, thence continuing in a south easterly direction for approximately 71m to Bridleway No.24, Bury, opposite the entrance to Welby Farm (Top O’Th Hill).

A copy of the Order and Order map may be seen free of charge at the reception desk at Town Hall, Knowsley St Bury BL9 0SW from 9:30am – 4.30pm on weekdays (excluding bank holidays).

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Head of Engineering, Public Rights of Way, at Bury Council, Bradley Fold Depot Unit 34, Bradley Fold Trading Estate Bradley Fold Road Bolton BL2 6RS or by email to prowconsult@bury.gov.uk by 12th March 2026. Please state the grounds on which it is made. Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order or if any so made are withdrawn the Council may instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
