What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH AND DEFINITIVE MAP

AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDERS

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

The Oxfordshire County Council,

Stratton Audley Footpath Nos. 8b (parts) & 8c (part),

Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map

and Statement Modification Order 2025

On 12 November 2025, the Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the above Order under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting, as shown on the Order map:–

Stratton Audley FP8b running from OS Grid Ref SP 6302 2792 south-eastwards for 95m to SP 6311 2789 and north-eastwards for 46m to SP 6314 2792 and from SP 6311 2789 south-south-eastwards for 81m to SP 6316 2783 to a new line running from SP 6302 2792 south-eastwards for 97m to SP 6311 2788 north-eastwards for 7m to SP 6312 2788, continuing north-eastwards for 13m to SP 6313 2789 and eastwards for 23m to SP 6315 2790;

Stratton Audley FP8c running from OS Grid Ref SP 6313 2805 southwards via SP 6314 2792 and SP 6316 2783 for 288m to SP 6317 2777 to a new line running from SP 6313 2805 south-south-eastwards for 140m to SP 6315 2791 south-south-westwards for 17m to SP 6315 2790 and south-south-eastwards for 131m to SP 6317 2777.

The Order came into force on the date of confirmation but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of the Act or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act as applied by S53A(7) WCA, within 6 weeks from the date of publication of this notice, make an application to the High Court.

Stratton Audley Footpaths Nos. 1 & 11 (parts) Modification Order 2025

On 12 November 2025, Oxfordshire County Council confirmed without modification the above order made under section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding to them the public footpaths:

from the existing southern end of Footpath No. 1 at OS grid reference SP 6093 2637 running south-westwards for 55m to Footpath No. 11 at SP 6090 2632;

and from Cherry Street at OS grid reference SP 6088 2630 running north-eastwards for 25m to Footpath No. 1 at SP 60903 26324, and south-eastwards for 5m to the existing western end of Footpath No. 11 at SP 60906 26322.

The order as confirmed became operative on the date of confirmation but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, on the ground that it is not within the powers of section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of Schedule 15 to the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 4 December 2025, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
