Cleator Moor – Public Footpath Creation Order
What is happening?
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 AND WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (PARISH OF CLEATOR MOOR) PUBLIC PATH CREATION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2024
The above named Order made on 7 February 2024 under Section 26 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 will create
A new section of public footpath no 403020 at Black How in the parish of Cleator Moor from 302289 513353 northwards and westwards to grid reference 302245 513386 then southwards to grid reference 302229 513279 then west-southwestwards to grid reference 301997 513303 and south-southwestwards to grid reference 301963 513228 joining FP 403011 from the north continuing west-northwestwards to grid reference 301671 513385 joining FP 403016 at Black How Bridge. The width of the new path will vary from 10 metres to 2.4 metres:

A new section of public footpath no 403011 in the parish of Cleator Moor from grid reference 301952 513211 north-northeastwards via a stone culvert at grid reference 301952 513213 to join FP 403020 at grid reference 301963 513228. The width of the new path be 2.4 metres.
A copy of the Order and map may be inspected free of charge at Whitehaven Library, Lowther Street, Whitehaven and the offices of the Countryside Access Team, The Parkhouse Building, Kingmoor Business Park, Carlisle CA6 4SJ by appointment only (ref 5.1.508). Details of the Order are available to view on the Council’s website and copies of the Order may be purchased at a cost of £2 per A4 sheet and £3 per A3 sheet. Alternatively contact countryside.access@cumberland.gov.uk for further information.
Any supporting statements or objections with respect to the Order can be sent in writing to the Countryside Access Team, (by post or email as addresses above) to be received not later than 31 December 2025 and should state the grounds on which they are made.
If no objections are duly made or if any so made are withdrawn the Cumberland Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State any objections which have not been withdrawn will be submitted with the Order.
