Notice of publication of the ‘Significant Water Management Issues’ consultation document, under regulation 29 (2)(b) (3)(a) and (b) of the Water Environment (Water Framework Directive) (England and Wales) Regulations 2017

The Environment Agency has published the Significant Water Management Issues consultation for England, including for the Northumbria River Basin District, on 20 November 2025.

The ‘Significant Water Management Issues’ consultation is the second in a series of three publications for public consultation, allowing anyone with an interest in the water environment or the River Basin Planning process the opportunity to comment.

The consultation can be found online at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/significant-watermanagement-issues-river-basin-management-plans or can be found at our main Area Offices.

The consultation runs until 20 May 2026 and any person may make representations to us regarding the statement of steps and consultation measures by completing the online response form on the website above. Alternatively, representations can be made via e-mail to enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk or in writing to: Dave Trewolla, RBMP Programme Manager, Environment Agency, Sir John Moore House, Victoria Square, Bodmin, PL31 1EB.
