Shalford Common Shalford Village Hall - Notice Of Public Meeting Proposed Deregistration And Exchange Of Common
What is happening?
NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED DEREGISTRATION AND EXCHANGE OF COMMON LAND AT SHALFORD COMMON SHALFORD VILLAGE HALL
26 November 2025 - 5 – 8pm
Hear from representatives of Guildford Borough Council and Pearmain Pubs on plans to deregister part of Shalford Common adjacent to the Parrot Pub and to provide replacement common land in exchange, and give us your views on the proposal
Following the positive outcome of an initial consultation in 2020, Guildford Bough Council is now considering making an application to deregister an area of Shalford Common which is adjacent to the Parrot Public House.
The purpose of this deregistration would be to allow the land to be leased for car parking purposes to Pearmain Pubs, the owner of the Parrot public house.
The Council has identified a replacement parcel of land in its ownership near Pound Place in Shalford, which is adjacent to Shalford Common. It is proposed that this parcel of land is registered as common land in exchange for the land being deregistered. The area of land to be deregistered and the replacement parcel are both approximately 808 square metres, so there would be no net loss of common land to the community as a result of this proposal.
The proposal is intended to facilitate the Parrot public house being brought back into beneficial use.
Please join representatives from Guildford Borough Council and Pearmain Pubs at a public meeting to discuss this proposal and provide your feedback on the proposal. We welcome all members of the community to ask questions and provide comments.
