NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDERS

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

  1. The Oxfordshire County Council, Hook Norton Bridleway No 32 (part), Public Path Extinguishment and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2021

  2. The Oxfordshire County Council, Hook Norton Bridleway No 38 and Hook Norton Footpath No 39, Public Path Creation and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2021

On 25 September 2025, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above orders, made on 17 May 2021, under sections 118 and 26 of the Highways Act 1980 respectively and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the Extinguishment Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by extinguishing, as shown on the Order map: -

part of Hook Norton BR32 running from north of Swerford Park Farm at OS Grid Ref SP 3631 3140 south-south-eastwards for 75m to SP 3634 3132 and then east-north-eastwards and then north-eastwards for 295m to SP 3662 3139.

The effect of the Creation Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area, as shown on the Order map, by: -

creating a public bridleway running from Hook Norton Br No 32 at OS Grid Ref SP 3631 3140 south eastwards for 41m to SP 3635 3138, east-north-eastwards and then east-south-eastwards for 106m to SP 3645 3130 and then north-eastwards for 149m to SP 3662 3139 and south eastwards for 20m to SP 3662 3139 where it re-joins existing bridleway;

creating a public footpath running from the new bridleway at OS Grid Ref SP 3645 3138 south-south-eastwards and then south-eastwards for 30m and then turning generally east-north-eastwards and north-eastwards for 70m to SP 3662 3139 where it re-joins existing bridleway.

The Oxfordshire County Council,

Little Tew Footpath No. 10 (part), Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

On 22 October 2025, the Oxfordshire County Council confirmed the above order under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by diverting: -

Little Tew FP10 running from OS Grid Ref SP 3574 3055 east-north-eastwards for 57m to SP 3580 3057, south-south-eastwards for 47m to SP 3582 3053 and east-north-eastwards for 86m to SP 3590 3056 to a new line running from OS Grid Ref SP 3574 3055 north-north-eastwards for 21m to SP 3575 3057, east-north-eastwards for 107m to SP 3588 3061 and south-eastwards for 75m to SP 3590 3056, as shown on the Order map.

The Orders came into force on their date of confirmation but if any person aggrieved by an Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within six weeks from 30 OCTOBER 2025 make an application to the High Court.
