What is happening?

NOTICE OF THE MAKING OF A DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE MODIFIED DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE METROPOLITAN COUNTY OF WEST YORKSHIRE

CITY OF BRADFORD METROPOLITAN DISTRICT COUNCIL (PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY NOS. 40 (DENHOLME), 219 (BINGLEY) & 235 (BINGLEY)) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 28 October 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by:

1. adding to them a public restricted byway from point D to point F on the Order map;

2. upgrading to a public restricted byway the part of public footpath 40 (Denholme) from point A to point B on the Order map;

3. upgrading to a public restricted byway the part of public bridleway 219 (Bingley) from points B to D to E to C on the Order map; and

4. upgrading to a public restricted byway the part of public footpath 235 (Bingley) from points E to F to G on the Order map.

The above public rights of way are generally located between Whalley Lane in Denholme and B6144 at Hewenden Bridge.

A copy of the Order and Order map may be seen free of charge at Customer Services Reception, Ground Floor, City Hall, Bradford, BD1 1HY and at Bingley Library, 5 Rise Shopping Centre, Bingley, BD16 1AW during normal office hours or on the Council’s website at https://bradford.modern.gov.uk/mgConsultationListDisplay.aspx

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Director of Legal and Governance at the address given below or by email to objections@bradford.gov.uk (quoting reference:- CORP/PCD/ MW/419139) not later than 18 December 2025 stating the grounds on which it is made.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or to any part of it, or if so made are withdrawn, the Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State, or part of it if the council has resolved not to submit part, may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, may itself confirm the Order or that part of the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, in whole or in part, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
