Statutory Notice – School Site Merger

School Organisation Proposal: Statutory Notice

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

Proposed Significant Change to Roding Primary School

Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a prescribed alteration to Roding Primary school Hewett Road RMP 2XS from 1 September 2026.

• Description of the Proposed Change

It is proposed to:

Merge the sites of Roding Primary School Hewett Road Dagenham RM8 2XS and Roding Primary School Cannington Road Dagenham RM9 4BL with the school operating from a single site at Roding Primary School Cannington Road from 1st September 2026.

• The merger will involve the school reducing its planned admission number from 6 forms of entry per year group to 4 forms of entry

• The merger will involve the Roding Cannington Road site remaining open and all existing staff and pupils currently located at the Roding Hewett site moving to the Cannington Road site

• The merged school will provide education for pupils aged [e.g. 4–11 years]

• The new merged site will accommodate all pupils and staff from both existing site

Objectives and Rationale

The proposed change is intended to:

• Improve the use of school premises and resources

• Enhance the quality of education and facilities

• Ensure long-term sustainability due to falling pupil numbers and financial pressure on the school operating over two sites with reduced pupil numbers

• Provide better access to specialist teaching areas and outdoor space

Location of Proposed Site

The school will operate from:

Cannington Road Dagenham RM9 4BL
