What is happening?
Notice of the grant of drought permits for the North Yorkshire area catchments
Following an application by Yorkshire Water Services Limited to the Environment Agency for drought permits in the North Yorkshire area under section 79A of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended), on 18th September 2025, the drought permits were granted by the Environment Agency on 10th October 2025 and 16th October 2025 and will apply for a period of 6 months from the date of issue.
The drought permits authorise the reduction of compensation releases from the following reservoirs located around the Leeds, Harrogate and Yorkshire Dales area.
• Beaver Dyke Reservoir
• Leighton Reservoir
• Lindley Wood Reservoir
• Lumley Moor Reservoir
• Scargill Reservoir
• Thruscross Reservoir Anyone may inspect the permits as granted, free of charge, during normal working hours at: Yorkshire Water, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford, BD6 2SZ.
