Notice of application for a full licence to abstract (take) water

Laing O’Rourke Delivery Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from sandstone at the University of Oxford Old Road Campus, in the area bounded by National Grid References SP 54193 06434, SP 54398 06369, SP 54431 06313 and SP 54358 06275.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

• 4,375 cubic metres an hour • 105 cubic metres a day

• 5,880 cubic metres a year.

Abstraction will take place over a 12-month period, for the purpose of construction dewatering. The proposed abstraction lies within the Thames Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area. All water abstracted will be discharged to public sewer.
